The Whale and Waterspout was an inn located at Port Royal, established in 1704. Around the time when James Norrington was promoted to the rank of commodore, a man known as S. Garrett owned and operated the inn.
With many vessels dropping anchor at Port Royal, there were sailors who frequently visited the inn, looking for a hearty meal and a place to sleep for the night. Not all innkeepers welcomed pirates but at the Whale and Waterspout, old Mr. Garret turned a blind eye, as long as his guests pay their bill in full.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- The Whale and Waterspout first appeared in the 2003 film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, and was later identified in the 2006-2007 reference books Pirates of the Caribbean: The Visual Guide and The Complete Visual Guide.[2][1]
- The Whale and Waterspout was meant to appear in Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned, a video game which was scheduled to be released in 2011.[citation needed] But since that game was cancelled, it is unknown if its appearance in the game is canon or not.
