- "If the captain is not here, who's in charge?"
"Lieutenant Tal has the deck." - ―Unknown and Unknown
Tal was an officer serving in the East India Trading Company and the British Royal Navy. Upon reaching the rank of Cadet, Tal was stationed at Port Royal under Lord Cutler Beckett's command. After Beckett's death during the War Against Piracy, Tal was inducted to the ranks of the British Royal Navy and promoted to Ensign. He was assigned to the HMS Providence, under the command of King George II's most trustworthy privateer, Hector Barbossa, which was sent to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. With the tragic loss of officers Lieutenant Commander Theodore Groves and Lieutenant Gillette as well as the defection of Hector Barbossa, Tal, through unknown circumstances, returned to England. Tal was, at some point, promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and reassigned to the HMS Resistance, where he served as first officer to its captain.
