  • Hi XD1,

Recently, we created a Tabber for the Main Page, during which time I did have help setting up a theme for it. And he provided more updates earlier, so that it now matched the rest of the templates on the Main Page. While I liked the theme itself, I didn't like the image that went along with it. It's pirate-fonted, but it's not as close-to-exact as your fonts...at least when comparing the official logos seen on the movie posters and all that.

In short, I'm wondering if you can modify the POTC font to where it fits the other fonts seen on the Main Page.

Thanks very much for anything provided! :)

So, if I'm understanding correctly, you just want me to make the "World of Pirates of the Caribbean" header text image to match the style I used in the other headers more closely. Is that right?

    • Exactly. Of course, I'm not sure how of the should be done -considering that it isn't pirate-fonted in the official logo (see here). So, I guess I'll leave it all up to you.

Let me know if there are any complications.

    • So any update on the pic? Forgive my eagerness, but I'm close to posting updates on the Main Page at the moment, so I thought I'd check in and see how things are coming along.

Crazy busy the last few days, I'll make it/them right now - probably end up making all new ones just so they match perfectly and we can get the "of the" closer to being correct. (on Quote of the Week as well)

You and me both. Ha! And great idea, even the "Quote of the Week" bit (completely forgot about that one). I look forward to see how it all works out.

I'd really like to breathe some new life into the POTC webring as well, but I'm not sure how much widespread discussion is needed on that. I just notice it's very plain & the link text is extremely small for modern higher-resolution monitors.

    • Like how?

And the fonts look great. Thanks!

    • Actually, now that I think about it, is it possible that you can use the Caslon Antique font for the "of the" parts of the headers? (Here is an example of it) Just remembered using that font in the past, and thought it might be better to use.

But if you can't, I guess that's ok.

      Better?

I also brought the letters in the instances of "Ca" closer together to more accurately reflect the true film font styling.

As for the webring, I was just thinking of making the image and link text a little larger, and adding a custom header to it. Here is a quick example using the same style header created for the main page here:

    • Most impressive! Hate to ask for more, but do you mind making a blog informing other users (and of course visitors of the Wiki) about the font and how it can be done? Just a thought, since you're more knowledgeable on this than I am. Plus it could be an interesting topic worth talking about, and of course it'd be easier to find the answers for any future newcomers in one place.

Oh... that webring (only knew it as the "Hub" or something). But I'm afraid that webring project was not my doing so I don't think that's up to me. You could check with either JoshuaCoalskull, or maybe Dentface, but I don't know how active Dent is these days.

Ah, good eye. Thanks again! It all looks terrific. :)
