Cause

Ship captured/destroyed by Nathaniel Hawk

Sir Robert Christopher Silehard was the Governor of Redmond around the time of Captain Nathaniel Hawk's exploits in the Caribbean Sea. Silehard was involved in a plot to seek out a potentially cursed treasure located somewhere in the Caribbean archipelago.

Silehard claimed to have a loaded pistol in his desk at all times. Silehard was rumoured to have imprisoned a merchant for a petty bar fight in order to seize his stocks.

In 1631, near Khoal Roa, Silehard engaged Nathaniel Hawk in ship-to-ship combat aboard his vessel, RMS Manowar. Silehard lost the encounter, and was killed by Hawk while aboard the Manowar.

Governor Silehard sent Captain Hawk on many missions. One of these is the first primary mission to accomplish in the game. Silehard almost comandeers Nathaniel's vessel and turns him to a spy whose task is to find out information about the French's plans in Oxbay. Silehard then sends him to block Oiseau from delivering ammo to the French army. After that, he sends Nathaniel to recover missing Incan treasures, which are probably the idols needed to destroy the Black Pearl. Nathaniel tries to buy the idols from the pirate leader Alistair Garcilaso, the pirate boss in the Douwesen hideout. However one idol is missing because someone claims to have already taken it. Silehard then sends another man to look after the idol. He then sends Nathaniel to look for the English traitor Raoul Rheims (he is actually shown in the beginnings of the game). Hawk fails the mission but eventually finds him in Douwesen Tavern with Danielle Greene and Vincent Bethune. Rheims gets sick and dies, and when Greene hears that Hawk works for the Redmond Governor, she stabs him down before he can even defend himself. Rheims claims to tell Danielle that Silehard is actually looking for cursed idols and that he actually doesn't know much about them. Nathaniel Hawk later gains consciousness and tries to find Danielle. Eventually Nathaniel finds out that Silehard is trying to kill Danielle. Nathaniel and Danielle ask some questions to Silehard, but the governor refuses and calls two guards. Soon Nathaniel and Danielle are considered to be pirates. Lieutenant Harris imprisons the scientist Clement Aurentis. Nathaniel then sieges the Greenford fort and captures the colony in order to free Clement. When Nathaniel attempts to park at Khael Roa, he encounters a huge Man-of-War captained by Governor Silehard himself, with 3 other 3rd class pirate ships. Nathaniel soon defeats Silehard's boat and Silehard is destroyed.
