Revenge of the Pirates! is a comic short story published in the Disney Adventures comics in August 2003, set in the Pirates of the Caribbean world and published under the Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl title.

Synopsis[]

The story begins with Captain Jack Sparrow and the crew of the Black Pearl attacking a merchant vessel. Cotton accidentally sinks it, sending the treasure to the bottom of the sea. However, Jack isn't going to give up so easily.

Later, at the Faithful Bride, Jack explains the situation to Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann. The treasure he was after was the magical Blade of St. Piran. Their meeting is interrupted by Jack's old crew, who have become cursed once more, vowing revenge against Sparrow. Will and Elizabeth are taken captive and Jack seems to have disappeared.

The undead pirates find the wreck of the ship that was carrying the blade and retrieved the treasure. Using the sword as bait, they wait at a nearby island to trap him. However, Jack managed to steal the blade from the pirates. When they realize he's nearby, they attack. Jack uses the blade to free Will and Elizabeth, who are tied together. Will grabs the blade and starts to attack, but soon realizes it does him no good since they're undead. Jack kicks the sword into Elizabeth's hands and the sword begins to blaze as if on fire. Elizabeth uses the sword to drive the pirates off.

After the fighting is over, Jack explains that he knew the pirates were the only ones who could retrieve the sunken treasure and Elizabeth was the only one he knew who was pure enough to use the blade. Will insists that the blade belongs in a museum and Jack lets it go. However, he keeps the sword's case, which is full of gold and jewels.
