Destroyed by the Black Pearl |
- "Most likely the powder magazine. Merchant vessels run heavily armed.
"And a lot of good it did them. Everyone's thinking it, I'm just saying it…pirates!" - ―James Norrington and Joshamee Gibbs[src]
The Princess was the merchant vessel that carried the ten year old William Turner from England to the Caribbean.
During the voyage the ship was attacked by the Black Pearl, under the command of Hector Barbossa, who was searching for the last of 882 pieces of Aztec gold—given to Turner by his father, Bootstrap Bill Turner and carried with the boy during the voyage. The Pearl struck the ship's powder magazine, causing it to explode, killing all on board save Turner, who was rescued by the HMS Dauntless.
[edit] Behind the scenes
The ship is named in a German novelization of The Curse of the Black Pearl by Wolfgang and Rebecca Hohlbein. Considering it does not appear in the English version, it is unknown if the name is canon.
