Patricia Lee "Patti" Smith (born December 30, 1946) is an American singer-songwriter, poet and visual artist, who became a highly influential component of the New York City punk rock movement with her 1975 debut album Horses.
On September 2010, while filming for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides took place on location in London, England, Patti Smith joined Johnny Depp in acclaimed photographer Annie Leibovitz's Disney Dream Portrait Series for Disney Parks. While Depp portrayed his Pirates character Captain Jack Sparrow, Patti Smith was credited as the Second Pirate in Command. When interviewed about the Pirates-inspired Disney Dream Portraits, Patti Smith described the connection shared by pirates and rock stars and revealed that she's always been a Disney fan.[1] The caption for this pair of portraits starring Depp reads, "Where magic sets sail and adventures become legendary."[2]
Patti Smith would post photos of her involvement with the Disney Dream Portrait Shoot and her good relationship with Johnny Depp on his birthday. She would refer to him as "Captain" in her posts.[3][4]
