Hmm...truthfully, I never thought that ship was the Pearl. I have thought that it was the Flying Dutchman (as per the walkthrough I saw online), but then I looked the stern. Anyway, to answer your question, that could be a subject to include in the Nemesis' trivia/behind the scenes section.
Also, if you don't mind, please let me know what you think of what I brought up here and tell me what you think. And regarding a different matter entirely, check KTTC for something(s) most interesting.
Hola, my name is Nic and I'm a member of the Wikia Community Development team. Recently our Special:LicensedVideoSwap tool has been updated with a list of new content for your wiki. For more information on this, please view here. If you would like assistance in swapping these videos, feel free to ask.
Thanks for the update! If I may ask, though, is this optional for all videos? Looked at the list and I only see one or two that could be swapped - we have been very cautious by uploading straight from the official POTC YouTube. So I don't know if others would feel that it'd be redundant to make such changes.
Hey! I'm Nicky, I've never really been on here before but I am really active on some other wikis but anyway, I was looking around here and I noticed you don't have a page for the fifth movie, Dead Men Tell No Tales , yet, even though it was already announced, and I was wondering if I could go ahead and add it.
Thanks for the visit. To answer your question, the message as seen here would explain much of why we don't have a page as of yet. Until we have more than just whisperings and rumors of a fifth, we will only have a redirect to the film series page.
Just to clarify, the film has not been announced per say, rather than just confirmed to be in development...right now anyway. Long story short - was writing, had a release date in January, then (as of last month or two) was delayed for script revisions. So yea, that's why we don't have anything other than a redirect as of yet.
So anyway, thanks for the concern and I hope I've answered your question...if not, feel free to ask. Welcome to the Pirates of the Caribbean Wiki! :)
It seems the "mermaids" in the OST novel are actually "suck-you-byes" (succubus) that are mentioned by pirates a night before the Carmichael sails for Florida. As stated in the novel they are "female demons that weirdly and erotically occupied the last hours of men marooned on barren islands".
Most interesting. Had my doubts, but I guess what was posted on Wikipedia was true, after all. Googled the quotation to see if there were more details, turns out Johnny Depp Reads forums also made the connection before filming even began. Believe it or not, I even looked on succubus' Wikipedia article to see if it has any relation - no mermaid, but a brief siren mention. Though I suppose that's not much a difference as OST's mermaids seem to be an apparent blend of the "women of the seas" folklore.
Hey J, really sorry I have to pick your brain again.
For writing reasons I needed the quote of Jack when he's talking with Koehler and Twigg, them teasing him up to 'you know nothing of hell' problem is 'you know nothing of hell' is all I remember and I cant find the scene on youtube or find the quote, may you help me out?
Worry about your own fortunes, gentlemen. The deepest circle of hell is reserved for betrayers and mutineers.
Wasn't sure if you wanted the entire conversation or just the Jack quote, but there it is. If you need more, we did made a lot of quote pages and put them in this category. Of course, we might not have all the well-known quotes, so you're always welcome to ask. :)
Hi. Unfortunately there is no way we can get the spotlight up before July 9th, although around July 15th would be possible if I can approve the wiki soon (new spotlights go up at the middle and end of each month, and there is some lead-time to have them made up after they are approved).
The wiki is in generally good shape except for all of the templates you use marking things that need images or quotes and are stubs; together you have well most of your content pages marked in some way, and even stubs alone are more than 1/5th of the pages. Clicking random page brings up very few pages without at least one of those templates. Please work on cleaning out the stub categories (so that all of them combined have fewer than 500 total pages) and, if possible, some of the other "needed" categories (quotes, images, etc) should be reviewed where possible. Let me know on my wall when you have reduced the number of stub pages and I'll be happy to add the wiki to the approved spotlight list.
Stubs can definitely be done. Quotes and images, however, are another thing. Images especially as our policy is to try and use as many official images as possible; and most of the articles that bear the image template relate to The Price of Freedom novel(which doesn't have any images, save for the cover). But reducing stubs should be easy enough, though not sure how well because there is still expanding to be done in some pages.
Though if you can't provide the spotlight, that's OK. I only did it as I was suggested to do it.
Hi. The stubs getting reduced are all that's required for the spotlight; I just find all the big templates for the others distracting as well and wondered if they were really all needed -- is it not obvious whether or not a page has an image already, without a big template to say so? I can understand adding a category for anybody who is interested in seeing what's needed all at once... but the big banner seems unnecessary to me.
At anyrate. If you want to have a spotlight even after the anniversary feel free to sort the stubs out and let me know. Or you can just let it go -- it's totally your choice :)
Almost understandable. Believe me, I sympathize, but the only thing that puts a cork in that logic is what's done at Wookiepedia; then again, they don't currently have a spotlight. Point being, they could be worse, especially if they cover the first part of the page(which our templates do not).
Anyway, thanks for the advice and I'm sure we'll solve the stub issue sooner or later. Cheers! :)
