"What ports of call on your voyage to China, Mister de Ver?"
"Marseilles, mon capitan. Where the best ships, the ships built by Frenchmen, they are docking!
"
Jack Sparrow and Etienne de Ver[src]

Marseille, also known as Marseilles, was a port-city on the south coast of France. During the Age of Piracy, the city was the trade capital of France and served as a home port to Capitaine Chevalle and his pirate crew in the 1720s.[1] When the Shadow Lord attempted to destroy the Brethren Court, he commandeered the Centurion and sailed the ship to Marseilles.[2]
