Malcom Hatcher was a Boatswain and the First Mate aboard the Victory, a small trading vessel, when it arrived in Oxbay in 1630. Malcom retired to Oxbay in order to live a quiet life on land, but shortly after his arrival a French squadron assaulted and occupied Oxbay.

Malcom remained on Oxbay until its liberation.
