Going Overboard! is a comic short story published in the March 2005 Disney Adventures, set in the Pirates of the Caribbean world and published under the Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl title.
Captain Jack Sparrow and the crew of the Black Pearl are going after a big haul: a Spanish galleon sailing on a rough sea. Anamaria expresses her doubts over chasing the galleon in the middle of a storm, though Jack is adamant. Onboard the galleon, the captain orders his helmsman, Gilligan, to steer straight into the storm, believing that only a madman would follow them into it. Jack orders Joshamee Gibbs to follow, fearing he would never live it down if people heard a little weather came between him and his prize.
However, the storm quickly becomes a hurricane. While Jack is thinking about being known as "Hurricane" Jack, the crew decides to abandon their stations and save themselves. Jack decides to take the galleon himself. Striding across the deck, Jack first loses his tricorne hat to the wind, then the pirate himself is swept overboard by a wave. The crew are shocked.
Jack fares well, however, landing directly on the deck of the galleon. It takes him a second to realize what happened, but once he has, he draws his sword on the captain. The galleon surrenders, and Jack gets the treasure.
