Geoffrey Rush, born in Toowoomba, Queensland, is an Australian Academy Award- and Emmy Award-winning actor. He portrays Captain Hector Barbossa in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series.

Biography
Geoffrey Rush won an Oscar for Best Actor in 1997 for the film Shine, and has subsequently been nominated three times: Best Supporting Actor in 1999 for Shakespeare in Love, Best Actor in 2000 for Quills, and Best Supporting Actor again in 2010 for The King's Speech and in 2012 the Australian Of the Year Award.
Pirates of the Caribbean
Geoffrey Rush's best known role was his acclaimed portrayal as Captain Hector Barbossa in the Pirates of the Caribbean films. He also provided the voice for an Audio-Animatronic version of Barbossa in the revamped Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at Disneyland, unveiled on July 7, 2006.
