Fountain of Youth
From PotC Wiki
The Fountain of Youth was a legendary spring which was said to restore youth to anyone who drank from it.
According to the legends of the Arawaks—a tribe native to the western Caribbean islands—the Fountain was located somewhere north of Cuba, in a land called Bimini. In 1513, Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León searched in Florida for the Fountain, but never found it.
Following the destruction of the HMS Endeavour, Captain Jack Sparrow set off in search of the Fountain of Youth, using navigational charts stolen from Hector Barbossa. Barbossa had also intended to find the Fountain, but the loss of his chart presumably meant the quest was either postponed or given up.
[edit] Behind the scenes
- In an extra for the Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest DVD, Gore Verbinski stated that the Fountain of Youth was one of the thousands of possibilities for a plot on the second one. It was the only possibility he said.
- Pirates of the Caribbean: The Fountain of Youth was the proposed title of the fourth movie and was highly used by both critics and fans. However, on September 11 2009, Johnny Depp announced the film is going to be called Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and is coming up Summer 2011. It's not yet confirmed if the Fountain is going to be involved in the film's plot or not though there are some speculations about Jack and Barbossa travelling the seas in search of it.
