In the first movie Jack Sparrow palms a medallion to curse himself, probably to put himself on a equal footing with Barbossa. How he does it is as he's talking to Barbossa, he casually picks up a handful of medallions and tosses them back with Barbossa watching. He then palms one without Barbossa knowing. But When Barbossa realises that Jack is undead, he seems supperised. Wouldn't Jack be cursed because of picking up that handful, even if he didn't palm one. It seems like Barbossa should have understod that Jack would be cursed when he was watching Jack picking up the medallions. - Captain J. Sparrow 20:16, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Jack replaced them all, at least as Barbossa saw it, so, from Barbossa's POV, Jack wouldn't be cursed - Captain Kwenn Talk 22:05, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

When Jack the monkey takes one out of the chest at the end of the movie, he is promptly curse. Wouldn't the same thing happen to Jack Sparrow? - Captain J. Sparrow 14:39, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Yes, and that's exactly what happened. But Sparrow wasn't standing in the moonlight at that point, so we didn't see his skeletal form until later - Captain Kwenn Talk 15:11, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Good point, but to make clear my inital comment, since "exactly what happend," wouldn't Barbossa know that Jack Sparrow cursed himself, by mearly picking up a medallion? In other words, it seems like when Barbossa saw Jack reach into the chest, Barbossa should have thought, "Jack's cured himself." - Captain J. Sparrow 18:39, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Didn't seem like he was paying much attention -- Jack had just informed him of the Dauntless, after all - Captain Kwenn Talk 19:09, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
jack never repaid his blood when tossing his coins back in. Barbossa whoud have known Jack was cursed.
