The Capture of Jack Sparrow! is a comic short story published in the Disney Adventures December/January 2004, set in the Pirates of the Caribbean world and published under the Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl title.
Synopsis[]

Captain Jack Sparrow is searching for some treasure he buried. Unfortunately, the treasure map is with an old crew mate, so Jack is forced to try to find it by memory. After a fruitless search, Jack decides to do things the hard way.
Several days later, Jack arrives in Port Royal, where he fails spectacularly at taking Fort Charles single-handedly. Elizabeth Swann happens to notice Jack be taken to jail and tells Will Turner. They decide to save him from Commodore James Norrington.
Meanwhile, Jack happens to get a cell next to a former member of his crew, Scurvy Joe. Shortly after this meeting, Elizabeth offers the guards a trick to lure them into a trap. They quickly break Jack out of jail. In his enthusiasm, Jack knocks over a lantern, which hits some barrels of gunpowder and breaks Scurvy Joe out of jail. Jack lures Scurvy Joe to a spot where his crew is waiting to capture Scurvy Joe.
Two days later, there are back at the island. Joshamee Gibbs tells Jack that they haven't been able to find the treasure map. Dawn comes and Scurvy Joe appears human once more. Tattooed to his back is the treasure map. It turns out that Jack was only a pace away from the treasure.
