The Sleeping Island! is a comic short story published in the Disney Adventures comics, set in the Pirates of the Caribbean during the Age of Piracy.
Plot[]
Pintel and Ragetti have finally managed to escape from Fort Charles. And they're not alone, because the Prison Dog is with them as well. But they're not just trying to escape from the British authorities―they want to find the Black Pearl and take control of her. When they reach an unnamed island and go ashore to take some rest, Pintel starts digging, because he believes that's the same island where Captain Bad Borrock hid his treasure. However, his shovel can't even scratch the surface of the island.
Suddenly, an earthquake shakes the island and they leave it as fast a they can. As the trio departs, Ragetti mentions that the Krakens can grow very big, and occasionally they can sleep on the surface for so long that people can mistake them for islands. Pintel says that the Krakens are just a legend, just like the sea serpents. As Ragetti looks behind Pintel, he sees that the island was actually a giant sleeping sea serpent, now fully awaken.
