"Elizabeth... Turner. I'm a maid in the Governor's household." - ―Hector Barbossa and Elizabeth Swann
The Governor's Mansion, otherwise known as Governor Swann's grand mansion, a mansion situated in Port Royal. It served as the estate and living residence of the Swann family, notably Governor Weatherby Swann and his daughter Elizabeth, and their staff, notably Estrella the maid. Set in the fashionable St. Paul's district, the mansion is far from the squalor of Port Royal's docks and slums.
History[]
Little is known of this mansion, other than that it was situated far from the squalor of Port Royal's docks and slums.[1] The mansion would serve as the household for Governor Weatherby Swann and his daughter Elizabeth following their voyage from England. With Governor Swann as the head of the household, there were several servants in the governor's employ, chief among them being the butler. At least two maids were known to work in the mansion, including Estrella. Other servants included a footman, and a coachman who drove the governor's carriage.[2]
Governor Swann's mansion came under siege when the cursed crew of the Black Pearl launched an attack on Port Royal. Lured by the Aztec gold medallion that Elizabeth Swann wore around her neck, the pirates storm the governor's mansion to kidnap her. The mansion was devastated by cannonfire, and many of its valuables plundered by the cursed pirates. By the time Weatherby returned to his wrecked home, Elizabeth was already sailing from the port, a captive of Captain Hector Barbossa's cursed crew.[1] Of the servants, only Estrella was known to have escaped the attack, the butler having been shot dead, and the other inhabitants of the mansion left to an uncertain fate.[2] Little is known of the mansion's further fate, other than being a notable location during the War of Jolly Roger.[3]
