"Since I had never been in a film before The Curse of the Black Pearl, I was kind of scared and confused most of the time on set, but I figured that it would be all right because it was right for Murtogg. In fact, my first shot in my first film ever was a parrot repeatedly relieving himself on my face. The props guy who was doing it was an amazingly accurate shot, and got me in the eye every time. Well, they always say 'Hire the best.'"
―Giles New[src]

Biography[]

Pirates of the Caribbean[]

Giles New potrayed Murtogg in the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise. During this time, Giles New and Angus Barnett (Mullroy) became fast friends on set, which only helped their on-screen chemistry. Since he had never been in a film before The Curse of the Black Pearl, New was scared and confused most of the time on set, but he figured that it would be all right because it was right for Murtogg. New's introduction to filming in Hollywood was one of the last scenes in the film, where Jack Sparrow is rescued from a hanging. His first shot in his first film ever was a parrot "repeatedly relieving himself" on his face.[1]

New would later reprise the role in At World's End, and Dead Men Tell No Tales.
