- "Abandon ship. Into the longboat."
- ―Jack Sparrow to his crew
This longboat was the last surviving longboat of the Black Pearl after the Kraken's attack.
History[]
After escaping Davy Jones' ship, the Flying Dutchman, off of Isla Cruces, the crew of the Black Pearl faced an attack from the Kraken. During the attack, all available longboats were smashed, save for one, which Jack used to get away from the Pearl to head for land. Jack was halfway back to Isla Cruces when he saw the Kraken attacking the Pearl. When he pulled out his trusted compass the needle was pointing to the ship. Realising he couldn't abandon his beloved Black Pearl, Jack returned to help defeat the Kraken. After a battle that killed a majority of the ship's crewmen, which left only Jack, Elizabeth Swann, Will Turner, Joshamee Gibbs, Pintel, Ragetti, Marty, Cotton and Cotton's Parrot, Jack ordered to abandon ship. Realizing that the Kraken was likely to attack again, Jack's crew began loading up into the longboat.[1]
The crew boarded on the longboat, though Elizabeth informed the crew that Jack chose to stay behind to give them a chance to escape. However, in reality, Jack was handcuffed by Elizabeth to the Pearl's mainmast, having realized the Kraken wanted Jack and not the ship. As they sailed away on the longboat, the rest of the crew watched as the Pearl was taken to the depths. Later, the crew had the longboat arrive to Tia Dalma's shack, where they would take refuge.[1] It is unknown if this longboat was ever used again.
