Giant gimbals, which let the ships rotate in different directions, help simulate the pirate vessels' movement on water in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. To create the massive gimbals, 150 special effects welders worked around the clock, using more than 1 million pounds of steel and 2,000 feet of hydraulic hose.
