Barbossa's predecessor was a pirate captain who succeeded in becoming a Pirate Lord of the Caspian Sea. His Piece of Eight was wooden eyeball. When he become a Pirate lord is unknown.

After Hector Barbossa commandeered the Black Pearl from Jack Sparrow and fall under the curse of Aztec gold, he met that Pirate Lord and obtained his Piece of Eight from him. It is unknown how Barbossa obtained Piece of Eight, by stealing it or on some other way.

Barbossa become the next Pirate Lord of the Caspian Sea and gave his Piece of Eight to Ragetti for safekeeping. What happened to Barbossa's predecessor is unknown.
