Angelica's sword was a well-polished sword used by Angelica, most notably wielded during the quest for the Fountain of Youth.
History[]
Little is known of this sword other than it became one of Angelica's more prominent weapons as the first mate aboard Blackbeard's pirate ship, the Queen Anne's Revenge. Angelica's sword would most notably be used throughout the quest for the Fountain of Youth, though she would wear in her swordbelt throughout the journey. During Jack Sparrow's mutiny, Angelica used her sword to fight alongside Blackbeard's zombie officers against the human crewmen led by Sparrow. From the battle at Whitecap Bay through the jungle trek on the island where the Fountain of Youth was located at, Angelica kept the sword on her person, except for when Blackbeard's crew came across a chasm, after which Angelica briefly disarmed herself. This sword was last seen as Angelica used it during the battle at the Fountain of Youth, where she fought against some of Hector Barbossa's British crew and confronted Jack Sparrow.[2] Its further fate is unknown.
Design and usage[]
Angelica's sword had a clam-shell design in the wristguard. The worn leather and weathered studs on Angelica's swordbelt showed that she was no stranger to dangers and duels on the high seas.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- Angelica's sword first appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.[2]
- The name "Angelica's Sword" would appear in a D23 display for On Stranger Tides.[3]
- In Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio's screenplay for On Stranger Tides, when Blackbeard raises his pistol to kill Philip after the mutiny on the Queen Anne's Revenge, Angelica draws her sword and steps in front of Philip, defending him.[4] The scene was retained in the film's junior novelization, though Blackbeard gave the command to kill Philip instead of using his pistol.[5]
